Just found out this morning from a TED talk that for the first hour of the Brad Pitt film “The curious case of Benjamin Button“, the elderley Benjamin character is completely computer generated from the neck up!

It’s one thing using CGI in say Transformers, Men in Black, space movies, war epics and the like, where nowadays it is almost expected, but for me the true beauty is making it so effective and using it so the audience don’t know your using it and can’t tell, even if they look closely, where you have and haven’t used it!
The genius’ at Digital Domain are responsible for this master trickery and see Ed Ulbrich reveal the secrets here:
Saw this cracking video this morning on Drawn
This reminded me (and prompted me to write this post) about all the cracking comms that surrounded the latest installment - The Dark Night, that no doubt played a (albeit small) part in its phenominal success at the box office, most of the success has got to be down to the amazing portrayal of the Joker by the late Heath Ledger, a well deserved oscar in my opinion.
Particularily impressive was the huge viral campaign creating a buzz long before the film hit the big screen!

…and these awesome teaser posters:

And then the actual film poster…
